Hawaz Fm LITHOLOGY= USGS Chart places this formation at the base of Arenigian stage, lower middle Ordovician. Alternating siltstones and sandstones. Cross-bedding is common. Deposited as offshore tidal sands and deltaic highstand deposits represented by a coarsening-upward of sandstones. No diagnostic fossils. CALIBRATION = Base of Floian.
